False. Curiosity thrilled the cat. The thing that killed the
cat was the high it fell from when the thrill was gone.
We have all both heard and said this saying many times over
the course of our lives. I myself have used that plenty and once during the
most inappropriate time that it could possibly said. That was earlier this year
and I have since tried to refrain from saying that anymore simply because I
scarred myself for life with it. But then this past weekend, I was talking to a
buddy of mine about something they had mentioned they had- that’s a whole other
story for a different time and place- and they happened to say this. Mind you,
I was indeed obscenely curious about the topic. So much so that it was all I
could think about for practically 2 days straight. So at the end of that second
day, I finally got the opportunity to see and experience the mysterious
treasure. You have no idea the excitement I had going into this. I swear all my
nerve endings were on fire leading up to it. Finally, the big reveal happened
and oh boy was it worth the build up. SO worth it. Well, after all was said and
done, my thrill was over and is probably not to be experienced again. :’( Well
that is the part that ends up sucking and “killing” you- the cat. After this
realization today while I was bored, I thought of all the times when I was
caught up in the excitement and curiosity of something unknown. And it turns
out that it always goes the same way- complete thrill while experiencing the
unknown and then super crash and burn when it can no longer been had or new or
is not as exciting as you had hoped. It happens with new people, new places,
new movies, new electronics, clothes, shoes- you name it. So that’s my thought
of the day. Enough with the babbling.<3
